Roy Alderwick

13 February 1927 - 22 March 1991

Roy served the community of Kingswood and District in Bristol for 43 years with the family funeral business. He was the owner of the business founded by his father, trading as E.C. Alderwick & Son. He later acquired the businesses of G.E. Haskins & Sons (Fishponds), Thomas Davis (Southville) and George Pakeman & Son (Clifton). He had a keen interest in the Residents Association and served as Chairman of the Kingswood Urban District Council for two years. Roy was very well respected throughout the country in the funeral profession and was a former National Secretary for the British Institute of Funeral Directors. Roy was a quite family man who simply enjoyed his home and his work. His son (Philip Alderwick) succeeded Roy as Treasurer of the Western Counties Federation of the National Association of Funeral Directors. The Service of Thanksgiving was attended by a very large congregation at Holy Trinity Church, Kingswood, illustrating the respect and affection in which he was held.
